About the Property: The property is primarily forested, though with approximately 2.78 miles of Sunkhaze Stream flowing it, the property holds important value as brook trout habitat. The Sunkhaze Forest also includes 106 acres of wetlands, important for many wildlife and plant species. Wells Forest abuts Sunkhaze National Wildlife Refuge and adds to a corridor of more than 40,000 acres of conserved lands from Milford to Amherst (northeast of Bangor). Sunkhaze Meadows National Wildlife Refuge is managed by the US Fish and Wildlife Service.
