About the Property:  The Bald Ledge, Hillside Lots, and Bickford Pond lands are found in the small town of Porter, nestled in the foothills of western Maine near Colcord and Bickford Ponds. These easements were donated by Rinardo and Alice Giovanella in 1987 and 1989, and the National Audubon Society in 2010, and are maintained by FSM.

The Giovanella family members have managed their forests since the 1940s with a deep appreciation and love for the land, its wildlife, and its ability to produce high quality timber. The easements meet their goals of permanently protecting their property from development and ensuring that it can be permanently maintained as productive forest. The Bald Ledge parcel has a popular hiking trail that provides exceptional views of the region.

Recreational Opportunities:  A public hiking trail exists on the Bald Ledge parcel.

Project Partners:  Francis Small Heritage Trust
