Picture-032-AMCF-web-cropped

Acres:  5,000
Year Conserved:  2009

About the Property:  Peregrine falcon and brook trout habitat, rare forest types, and pristine backcountry ponds can all be found in the Amherst Mountain Community Forest. On a clear day ridge-top trails offer views of Cadillac Mountain and Mount Katahdin. The nearly 5,000-acre community forest has extraordinary recreational, ecological, and forest resources – just 25 miles from Bangor or Ellsworth.

The property is state-owned but managed jointly by the town of Amherst and the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation, and Forestry.

Recreational Opportunities: hiking, fishing, hunting, wildlife viewing, paddling, snowshoeing, and
snowmobiling.
