Amazon – Musquash

IMG_2231-for-web

Acres:  7,100
Year Conserved:  2016

The Forest Society of Maine (FSM) partnered with Downeast Lakes Land Trust (DLLT) as they completed a decade long landscape conservation initiative in the Downeast Lakes region. The Amazon-Musquash easement was created on a portion of DLLT’s recent larger acquisition in order to provide additional conservation measures due to its ecological values. The reserve is host to a diversity of natural habitats, including a Bog Ecosystem, an Unpatterned Fen Ecosystem, a Birch-Oak Talus Woodland, and an Ironwood-Oak-Ash Woodland. There are also two small waterfalls on the property, which is uncommon in the Downeast Lakes region.

DLLT Acquires the West Grand Lake Community Forest, July 1st, 2016

Recreational Opportunities: hiking, fishing, hunting, water access.

Project Partners:  Downeast Lakes Land Trust
