Sysladobsis Forest

Acres:  2,000
Year Conserved:  2021

About the Property: The Sysladobsis Conservation Easement is primarily forested but also includes frontage on Sysladobsis Lake and Horseshoe Lake, and numerous other streams and wetlands. The Downeast Lakes Land Trust (DLLT) owns and manages this property as a working forest and to allow for recreational opportunities by the public.  The property includes important habitat for wildlife, such as wild brook trout, deer, migratory birds, and numerous other species.

The LCF already plays a key role in the regional conservation picture as it will become part of DLLT’s Downeast Lakes Community Forest, which encompasses approximately 55,500 acres. The addition of the Lakeville tract will also help to expand and strengthen a conservation corridor reaching to the U.S. – Canada border.

Recreational Opportunities: Fishing, boating, hunting, snowmobiling, ATV riding, wildlife observation.

Project Partners: Downeast Lakes Land Trust
