Recreational Values

Paddling in the Moosehead Lake region.

Maine has a unique tradition of forestland owners providing public access to private lands for recreational enjoyment. This tradition of public access benefits the tens of thousands of people who visit Maine’s forestlands each year. Visitors to Maine’s North Woods can experience the extraordinary outdoor activities offered by the land like cross-country skiing, hunting, snowmobiling, hiking, fishing, wildlife viewing, canoeing, and snowshoeing.
